Without a doubt, Disney is the ultimate family vacation. What child doesn't want to meet Mickey Mouse at least once in their lifetime? Disneyworld and Disneyland are definitely wonderful places to take a family vacation, though they can also be quite expensive. I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the most recent Disney family "package", specifically called "Magic Your Way".
Magic your way is broken into different tiers, depending on how elaborate of a vacation you are looking for. All of the packages include some bonuses that I wasn't real excited about, but you may find them worthwhile. These included some things like a round of free golf, or a free photo (while trying to sucker you in for paid things).
1) Flexible package: This is the basic package, which includes accommodation in the Disney resorts and admission to any of the main parks for each day of your stay (possibly without the hopping feature depending on what you select).
2) Magic Your Way plus Dining : Everything included in the above package, plus some basic dining which includes one table service meal and one counter service meal every day.
3) Premium Package: Now we are starting to get to the real "Bells and whistles". This includes everything in the previous packages, and also breakfast, the ability to eat just about anywhere in Disney, and several prefered benefits like boat rentals, golf, etc. So what's the catch? This package is quite expensive!
My Personal Opinion: I like to look at the overall cost of things (I'm a penny pusher, I'll admit it!). Sure, it is convenient just to pay one price and not have to worry about additional expenses for things like meals while on vacation, but if you look at the big picture, you do not tend to save money when you purchase the more lavish plans. When we go to Disney, we stay at the all star resort, which is very reasonably priced, and we honestly don't spend that much time eating. We pack our lunch and usually eat supper at one of the fast food oriented places. Not only do the more expensive packages include overpriced meals, but eating those meals takes away from precious park time!
